File your FAFSA Video Transcript

U.S. citizens, permanent residents, current asylees, and refugees need to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, every year in order to receive federal aid.  Other application materials are required in order to apply for institutional aid at Cornell.

The FAFSA should be filed by the student and the custodial parent, or the parent that the student receives the most support from. 

The FAFSA is available any time after October 1st for the upcoming academic school year. When filing your FAFSA you’ll need Cornell University’s FAFSA school code, which is 002711.

Students should refer to our website for filing deadlines based on whether they are prospective students or current students.

The FAFSA features the IRS data retrieval tool.  This tool can be used by most filers to load their tax data directly from the IRS to the FAFSA. Families are less likely to be randomly selected for federal verification if this tool is used. 

Remember you must file your FAFSA every year in order to receive financial aid for the upcoming academic year.
