How to Find a Job Video Transcript

There are thousands of on-campus jobs for Cornell students.  Applicants need to search for and apply to jobs directly. Cornell does not offer any student employment placement service.  Start your search by using one of the online student job databases that Cornell offers.  The Student Employment website provides one of the primary online posting systems for departments around campus to post their student jobs.  Some campus employers operate their own online job posting system specific to the type of jobs that they are recruiting for.  To help applicants easily navigate among the job search choices, the Student Employment website includes links to these systems.  An applicant will see those links at the time of login to our job database. A Cornell NetID is required to enter the job posting database.

If there is a particular department or area that you are interested in, and you do not see any job postings listed, we recommend that you reach out to that department directly.  Some departments still post jobs by paper on bulletin boards, or on an office door, so be sure to keep your eye out as you are walking around campus. Jobs can also be found through networking – such as speaking to your professors and teaching assistants.  Many faculty hire students from their classes, and never advertise their jobs.

Once you start working, you are paid every two weeks.  Earnings go directly to you, and do not credit to your Bursar account.  You are responsible for managing your money to help cover your educational expenses.
