Early Financial Aid Estimates for Recruited Athletes

The Office of Financial Aid and Student Employment provides early financial aid estimates to recruited athletes upon request by Cornell Athletics.

If you intend to apply for need-based Cornell financial aid in the 2025-26 academic year (applications open in October 2024), and Cornell Athletics has requested an early financial aid estimate for you, please complete the following requirements:

Application Requirements

  1. Complete the 2024-2025 CSS Profile Application online with the College Board.
    • Search for “Cornell University” or use code 2098, when prompted
    • There is a fee associated with filing the CSS Profile. However, U.S. students with family adjusted gross income up to $100,000 are automatically eligible for a CSS Profile fee waiver. Eligibility for a fee waiver is confirmed in the CSS Profile application.
    • If you do not meet the criteria for a fee waiver, you may request one by emailing the Office of Financial Aid and Student Employment directly at: finaid@cornell.edu

If your parents are divorced or separated, both of your biological/adoptive parents – your custodial parent and your noncustodial parent – are required to complete separate CSS Profile applications.

If the whereabouts of your noncustodial parent are unknown, or if you have extenuating circumstances regarding your situation, you may complete the Noncustodial Parent CSS Profile Waiver Request.

  2. Submit Documents
    • Personal Income Tax Returns
      • U.S. Students: submit a complete copy of your 2023 federal income tax return (Form 1040). Be sure to include copies of your employer-issued wage statements (W2), all schedules and 1099’s for both parents and the student (if applicable).
      • Canadian Students: submit a full copy of your federal income tax and benefit return filed for the 2023 tax year (T-1 General). Be sure to include schedules for both parents and the student (if applicable).
      • Foreign Tax Filers: submit copies of parents translated 2023 foreign tax returns. If your parents were not required to file a tax return, please provide translated copies of 2023 earnings from their employer(s). This can be an annual statement of earnings from their employer. If your parent(s) did not work or earn any income for 2023, please have them submit a signed statement of non-filing.
    • Business Tax Returns (if applicable)
      • Submit a complete copy of your 2023 federal income tax return(s) for any businesses that your parents hold full or partial ownership in (IRS Forms 1120, 1120S, 1065). Be sure to include all schedules filed with the return.
    • Copies of financial aid estimates from any other Ivy League Institution, Stanford, Duke or MIT (official estimates provided by Offices of Financial Aid only – net price calculator or aid estimator outputs will not be accepted).

All documents should be submitted directly to the Office of Financial Aid and Student Employment as part of your EFAE application via our Secure Online Upload for Athletics.
