New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)
The Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) is a grant that helps eligible New York State residents attending full-time, part-time, and in non-degree workforce credential programs pay for tuition at approved schools in New York State. TAP is administered by the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC). Annual TAP awards can be up to $5,665 and do not need to be paid back.
New York State residents who meet TAP eligibility requirements should apply for TAP via the FAFSA form each year.
How to apply for TAP:
- Apply through FAFSA— complete the NYS aid application when prompted.
- Didn’t apply for TAP through the FAFSA?
- Sign up to be notified by HESC when the TAP application is available.
- Apply for TAP through HESC.
- Didn’t apply for TAP through the FAFSA?
- The confirmation page upon completion of your FAFSA. OR
- The New York State Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) website - use your PIN (personal identification number) provided by HESC when filling out the TAP application.
